TikTok is officially available for Android TV. This short video sharing platform is extremely popular among the youth. However, a few days ago, there was a piece of bad news for its Indian users. The Government of India has permanently banned a total of 59 apps including Tiktok. The app was banned only last year, but now it has got a permanent ban, making it clear that TikTok will no longer return to India. However, the app is still being used extensively in other countries, and in view of this, developers have also officially released it for Android TV.
TikTok is now available on Google TV’s Play Store with Chromecast as an Android TV app. A report by GizmoChina states that the app is currently available in some areas. They did not find this app on the Play Store of Mi TV Box when they checked by the publication.
As per Crunchoid reports, you can watch videos without signing in to this app and if you are willing to see your created list, you can also sign-in to the app. The TV also reportedly runs on video portrait mode. It is also made very easy to control the app. You have to use the right and left navigation buttons respectively to watch the next or previous video, and pressing the “More” button brings other options.
Let’s say that 59 Chinese companies, including Tiktok (Tiktok), WeChat (Wechat), have been banned in India. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) had banned these apps last year. Earlier, sources had told Gadgets 360 that the government had sought answers to some questions related to the collection and use of user data from all those apps companies after the ban. The left appears to be that the government was not satisfied with the replies given by the companies.
